D Turin's "Ollie" Plush Toy Makes a Difference for Children in Need

D Turin, a reputable provider of Elks regalia, introduced "Ollie" earlier this year. This fun plush toy is now being used to bring comfort and emotional support to children. Recently, West Palm Beach Elks Lodge #1352, in collaboration with Kristen Barbato and PER Larry Quick, spearheaded a heartwarming initiative centered around Ollie. As members of the Elks Riders, Barbato and Quick led a fundraising event where members either adopted or donated Ollie plush toys to benefit children at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Barbato, whose daughter is a nurse in the hospital's pulmonary unit, took the initiative a step further. With more than 30 Ollies donated, her team plans to distribute the toys to young patients, using them as tools to offer emotional support and help children better understand medical procedures like tracheostomies. By demonstrating the procedure in a comforting way using Ollie, the nurses aim to calm their patients' fears and offer reassurance. Even the hospital's therapy dog, Nettle, received an Ollie, marking the widespread appeal and comfort the toy provides.

Beyond the hospital, Ollies were also donated to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, where officers will distribute them to children in emotionally difficult situations, providing additional support.

D Turin is honored to be a part of this impactful project and values the partnership with the West Palm Beach Elks Lodge #1352. By creating Ollie, they continue their legacy of supporting community initiatives and making a difference in the lives of those in need.
